A trickling filter comprises sections, e.g. 5, which have passages of large surface area and are affixed to rods 3 mounted on a rotatable shaft 1. In operation, the sections are successively immersed in and withdrawn from effluent being treated. The sections may be in the form of truncated sectors, truncated triangles, cubes or parallelepipeds and packed with plates 12 which are undulated or provided with pyramidal surfaces.</p> |
