Optical device for boring using a laser beam

A laser beam (LSt) drills holes narrow in comparison with the material strength of a workpiece (W) by using an excursion lens (AO) to preset the hole's breadth. A device determines the laser beam's angle ( delta alpha ) of cut into the workpiece. A focussing lens (L) focuses the laser beam on or near the workpiece. A defined contour track in the direction of the drilled hole's depth is made possible by the formation and the adjustment of the excursion lens.
