Filter comprises a filter housing (2), and a removable filter element (9) in a receiving chamber (11) in the housing. The housing has a lid (3) for opening and closing the receiving chamber. The lid is in a region of the filter housing between the inlet side and the outlet side of the filter element at a distance from the flow path of the fluid to be cleaned.
