When a clutch (2) speed signal is not generated, the speed of the engine (1) is used as substitute control parameter. The speed is monitored to detect overshooting of the predetermined speed limits, which are within the idling and maximum speeds. When the predetermined speed limits are exceed in the idling or maximum speed direction, the clutch is released, preferably increasingly as the idling or maximum speed is approached. |
