A secondary, alkaline manganese cell has a cathode of mainly MnO 2 and an anode of smaller capacity which limits the discharge of the cathode to less than that which causes irreversible change therein. The anode may be Zn, Cd or Fe. As shown in Fig. 2, a cell has a gel-type Zn anode 24 formed on a copper net with a current collector 25 embedded therein. Two cathodes 22 of MnO 2 , graphite and Ni are placed one inside and one outside the anode. The central cathode may contain a graphite rod (not shown) or may be omitted (Fig. 3, not shown). |
