Prior to creep drilling a flat end or recess (2) is made in the tube (1) to form a small plane surface (3) edged by sloping walls (4). Before drilling a washer is placed in the recess. By means of friction and the high temperature due to the creep drilling the washer is welded to the tube and a part of its material serves to develop by creep the bushing and the flange.
