At the zone for the separation of grease and greasy matter to give precleaned waster water and sewage, the pH value is set in the acid range and below pH 7. This forms an upper layer of greasy particles (31) and a lower sludge layer (29), with a reaction zone (30) between them.. The grease separation is divided into two zones (28, 33), with a flow of waste between them at an upwards angle in the reaction zone. Cleaned waste is taken out of the separation zone at a point under the fatty layer, in a flow which is aligned upwards.
