1335544 Coating copper wires by hot dipping SIEMENS A G 12 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 53977/70 Heading C7F A copper wire 1 is coated with tin greater than 3 microns thick by passing it through a bath 7 of molten tin and then through a die 10 of e. g. diamond, ruby, stainless steel, which has recesses 17, Fig. 2, around its inner surface as described in Specification 1335053. The exit of the die is arranged at about the surface of the molten tin, and the die is mounted, Fig. 4 (not shown) to move in the direction of the wire and parallel to the bath surface. The wire passes through steam at 800 to 900‹C. in a chamber 3, water 4, dryer brush 5, felt wipers on to which HCl drips, and then to the bath 7, the surface of which may be covered with charcoal 9 or iron sheets. |
