1310001 Cross-arms for posts C/P CORP 4 Jan 1971 [7 Jan 1970] 248/71 Heading E1B [Also in Division H2] A cross-arm assembly for an electrical distribution line comprises a cross arm 13, a pair of support legs 14, the cross arm and legs preferably being of non-conductive material, e.g. resin impregnated glass fibres, and means for securing the legs to the cross-arm possibly comprising brackets 15. The brackets may also be non-conductive and attached to the legs by either bolts or pins (Figs. 2, 4 and 5 not shown). Dowel pins (19) (Fig. 3 not shown) which either support the cross arm in a slightly elevated position from the legs or allow the arm and legs to abut each other, are inserted between the cross arm and legs. The space between the mating surface of the cross arm and support legs can be filled with an adhesive e.g. of the epoxy type, to strengthen the joint or with a caulking compound to prevent water seeping in. The cross arm assembly can be attached to a pole 11 by means of bolts 12 and can either be assembled in situ or pre-assembled before fixing to the pole. |
