The panel may be of plastics and is coated with a protective film 26, also possibly of plastics. Front panel 12 has at least one recess to receive a domestic fitting e.g. wall socket 30, the cavity at the back of the skirting accomodating wiring pipes &c. Strengthening cores 22, 24, possibly of wood, may be provided at the folds and may be hollow to provide additional space. The cavity may be provided with wiring supports and the skirting may be fitted either direct to the wall or via a supporting structure. Weakened punch positions may be provided on panel 12 at set intervals to provide readily obtainable recesses. In a further embodiment the fittings may be completely enclosed by the skirting and accessible only by opening a flap or screen. |
