A silicon compound-containing thermoplastic material also contains a stabilizer/radical scavenger. Independent claims are also included for: (i) production of the material by incorporating the silicon compound and the stabilizer/radical scavenger (a) before or during the transesterification or as a glycol suspension at the beginning of or during the polycondensation stage in the case of a transesterification (DMT) process or (b) at the beginning of the polycondensation in the case of a direct (TPA) process, the reaction melt being granulated outside the reaction vessel once the desired end viscosity has been reached; and (ii) production of a 0.5-1000 micron film by mixing thermoplastic chips containing the silicon compound (i.e. a masterbatch) with a clear polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material and then extruding to give a film which is stretched, heat fixed and relaxed.
