PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grow carbon nanofibers in a high density on the surface of a substrate. SOLUTION: When a substrate 1 comprising the intermediate phase of nickel oxide and magnesium oxide is disposed in a reducing atmosphere, the nickel oxide is selectively reduced and deposited. Since the nickel deposited from the intermediate phase is uniformly and densely disposed on the surface of the substrate in a fine size, the carbon nanofibers 2 grown from the nickel are also fine, uniform and dense. |
