To adjust and adapt the directional diagram of a group antenna (antenna elements 1 to M) a decision feedback process is used in the first instance which subsequently is shut down for the detection of the subscriber data whi le the sum of the weighted signals of the individual antennae is directly passe d on to a MLSE unit (maximum likelihood sequence estimator) (200). The decisio n feedback structure (100) can, for the purpose of continuous adaptation of th e weighting factors (W11 to WMR) remain permanently switched on, while concurrently the MLSE unit (200) is detecting the subscriber data.
