PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a safe remedy of Alzheimer's disease hardly having side effects by examining whether BACE1 acts on a substrate except APP or not to establish a system for assaying activities of the BACE1 cleaving the substrate except the APP, and evaluating a specimen by using the system for assaying the activities of the BACE1 cleaving the substrate except the APP.

SOLUTION: The method for cleaving a sialic acid transferase comprises bringing a β-selectase into contact with the sialic acid transferase.
