PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a tool for simultaneously and quickly polishing the end surface of a plastic optical fiber. SOLUTION: This optical fiber polishing tool polishes the end surface of the optical fiber by sandwiching the plastic optical fiber by a first base body and a second base body, and is characterized in that a groove for placing the optical fiber is formed in at least one of the first base body and the second base body, the groove extends in a straight line shape in the lengthwise direction, the cross section of the groove is an almost V shape, the first base body and the second base body have the same planes, and have planes orthogonal to the lengthwise direction of the groove, respectively, and have means for energizing the first base body and the second base body in the mutually pushing direction.
