MANUFACTURING METHOD OF WORM WHEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a worm wheel capable of reducing flash and reducing man-hours and costs because a molding tool of complicate constitution is not required. SOLUTION: A worm wheel 10 of which at least the tooth 10a is made of a synthetic resin is manufactured. This method comprises a step for mold- forming a preform having teeth with the same shape as those of a helical gear; a step for mold-cutting the preform in the tooth trace direction of the helical gear; and a step for making the tooth 10a of the worm wheel 10 by hob- processing each tooth of the preform in a way that a tooth height at a central potion in the tooth trace direction is higher than that at each both end portion, and a tooth thickness is thin.
