PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform cleaning only of a specified kind of liquid with no trouble. SOLUTION: The liquid ejector comprises a valve unit 30 capable of closing a plurality of liquid supply passages 21 interconnecting liquid storage parts 7 and 8 and a liquid ejection head 12, respectively, for each kind of liquid, and control means 47 and 49. The control means has a function performing a pressure reducing process for evacuating an enclosed space formed between a capping means 13 and the liquid ejection head 12 to bring about a negative pressure state, a fully closing process for bringing all valve units 30 into closed stat by switching valve units 30 in open state to closed state, and a fully opening state for bringing all valve units 30 into open state upon elapsing a specified time.
