PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation of external use which has synergistically improved moisture retaining effect and has no problem of safety such as skin irritation and skin sensitization. SOLUTION: This skin care preparation for external use comprises an extract of a plant of the family Salicaceae, especially a water extract of bark of Salix nigra and one or more kinds selected from an amino acid, a oligopeptide, a polypeptide, a polyhydric alcohol, a higher alcohol, their derivatives, a phospholipid, a glycolipid, a steroid and a saccharide.
