PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage apparatus capable of searching a comfortable region automatically to massage only this region. SOLUTION: The massage apparatus has a plurality of air bags 20-28 for massaging the respective regions of the body and a pulse wave sensor 201 for detecting the heartbeat of the body and expands and contracts the air bags 20-28 on the basis of operation elements being the operation conditions of the air bags 20-28. This massage apparatus is equipped with an average heartbeat cycle calculation means 122 for detecting the feature of the heartbeat at every region, a heartbeat change ratio calculation means 123, a heartbeat fluctuation calculation means 124, a comfortability calculation means 125 for altering the operation elements at every region corresponding to the feature of the heartbeat at every region and an operation control part 130 for expanding and contracting the air bags 20-28 on the basis of the operation elements altered at each region by the comfortability calculation means 125.
