PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interior material having good deodorant and antibacterial properties in the room. SOLUTION: The interior material has at least a base material with a rugged surface and particles attached to the surface of the fired clay base. The particle contains a photocatalytic material at least a part of which is covered with a compound represented by A<SB>x</SB>(BO<SB>y</SB>)<SB>z</SB>X. A is≥1 atom selected from the group consisting of Ca, Co, Ni, Cu, Al, La, Cr, Fe, and Mg. B is≥1 atom selected from the group consisting of B, P, and S. X is≥1 atom selected from the group consisting of OH, CO<SB>3</SB>, and a halogen atom. Foul smell components, bacteria and microorganisms are efficiently contacted with the particles containing the compound represented by A<SB>x</SB>(BO<SB>y</SB>)<SB>z</SB>X, because the particles are attached to a wider rugged surface area of the base of the interior material.
