<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent to the maximum possible extent activated sludge from being adversely affected by a poisonous harmful component contained in the water to be treated, and thereby keep the activated sludge at an appropriate activation level and effectively perform the cleaning process of various kinds of sludge using the activated sludge. <P>SOLUTION: The activated sludge is brought into contact with pulverized or slurry-like coral or a biodegradable apatite or a mixture of both the coral and the apatite. Thereby the poisonous harmful component contained in the water to be treated is adsorbed and the activity oft the activated sludge is maintained at its desirable level, and the generation of malodor is also inhibited. Acidic sludge is neutralized with the basicity and the return sludge is rapidly dried. Consequently, the sludge is handled with much ease. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
