PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator of a combine harvester equipped with a waste straw detecting member for detecting an increase or a decrease of the amount of waste straws, applying regulations to, for example a detection output for a prescribed time when a state of the eliminated waste straws or a prescribed amount or less of the waste straws in a waste straw part is detected with the waste straw detecting member, keeping the opening of a chaff sieve, preventing an increase of grain loss, etc., thereby always carrying out the optimum separation and improving the efficiency in revolving operation, etc. SOLUTION: The separator of the combine harvester is designed to change the opening of the chaff sieve 28 of a shaking separating board 25 interlockingly with the detection of the increase or the decrease of the amount of the waste straws with the waste straw detecting member 43 installed in the waste straw part 13.
