PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder whereby an operation for attaching or detaching an ink cartridge can be readily performed and a stable conductive condition between an electric contact of the ink cartridge and an electric contact of a carriage unit can be obtained. SOLUTION: This image recorder comprises an openable cover 17 provided to a carriage unit body in order to fix the ink carriage 11 to the carriage unit 12 and an urging means 20 that applies an urging force to the ink cartridge 11 in order to urge and bring the electric contact 13 of the ink cartridge 11 into press contact with the electric contact 11 of the carriage unit 12. When the cover 17 is closed, the ink cartridge 11 is fixed to the carriage unit body, and the both of the electric contacts 13, 14 are electrically connected with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
