PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical shaping apparatus for shortening the time required for regulating the height of a liquid surface after the operation of a recoater to perform optical shaping processing rapidly and efficiently. SOLUTION: The optical shaping apparatus (10) has a tank (12) for storing a photosetting liquid (R), a base plate (16) arranged in the tank and laminating a photoset body formed by irradiating the liquid surface (R<SB>0</SB>) of the photosetting liquid with light, the recoater (14) arranged at a place slightly higher than the liquid surface of the photosetting liquid so as to be movable horizontally and moving to introduce the photosetting liquid into the region above the photoset body, and a liquid surface sensor (13) following the recoater to move and detecting the height of the liquid surface of the photosetting liquid.
