<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food containing viable lactic acid bacteria, needing neither costly process nor material and efficiently deliverable to the intestine through its oral administration. <P>SOLUTION: A nucleic acid complex for protecting viable lactic acid bacteria from gastric juice comprising a nucleic acid, one or more gelatinizers and water is provided. A nucleic acid complex mixture with viable lactic acid bacteria protected therein comprising said nucleic acid complex and an emulsified product prepared by emulsifying a liquid containing the viable lactic acid bacteria with an emulsifier and fat and oil is provided. A method for producing said nucleic acid complex mixture comprises mixing said emulsified product with said nucleic acid complex. A method for protecting lactic acid bacteria from gastric juice is also provided. In the above, the nucleic acid complex is preferably such one that the nucleic acid is a DNA derived from living body waste in particular and the gelatinizer(s) comprises gelatin and carrageenan.
