PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that, in a conventional immersion nozzle, the control of molten steel fluidity necessary for preventing entrainment of powder being lubricant floating in a mold upper part and the control of argon gas bubbles blown in can not be made compatible with each other, as a result, the entrainment of the powder can not be prevented. SOLUTION: In the immersion nozzle for continuous casting of molten metal, a spiral swirl vane is provided within a immersion nozzle channel. The immersion nozzle for the continuous casting obtained by connecting the lateral ejection port parts having a cylindrical cross section provided on the side face near the bottom end of the immersion nozzle and the lateral ejection opening parts provided on the side face which makes the flat face bottom part of the immersion nozzle a slit port, is used, and the immersion nozzle specification and the casting condition are made within a proper condition, thereby enabling production of an excellent cast slag having no powder entrainment.
