<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting diode and an LED light requiring less manhours for their assembly, with their surfaces wholly homogeneous in brightness. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting diode (LED) 2 comprises a pair of lead frames 5a, 5b which are mounted with a light-emitting element 6 and supply power to the same, and a transparent epoxy resin 8 which encapsulates them. The part of the lead frames 5a, 5b encapsulated in the transparent epoxy resin 8 bends downward from near the position of the light-emitting element 6, and protrudes out of the transparent epoxy resin 8 below the element-mounted surface for minimizing the part encapsulated in the transparent epoxy resin 8. LED light 1 has a structure which is circular in shape, the LED 2 is mounted at the center of the circular plane, and the LED 2 is surrounded with reflecting surfaces 3a concentrically arranged like steps for the formation of a reflector 3. Light emitted by the light-emitting element 6 is reflected to the horizontal X-Y directions by a boundary with air (reflection surface) positioned in the vertical Z direction, and the reflected light is again reflected to the vertical Z direction by the reflecting surfaces 3a of the reflector 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
