OPTICAL SIGNAL MONITORING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal monitoring apparatus which is inserted between an existing optical terminal board and a connector of an optical fiber to measure directions and strengths of optical signals accurately and reliably.

SOLUTION: The optical signal monitoring apparatus includes an optical signal detector 20 and an optical signal display device 40 connected to the detector 20 via a connection cable 60. The detector 20 is so formed that connectors 21, 22 to be inserted between the optical fiber 1 and the optical terminal board 2 as adapters and a terminal 23 for outputting a detection signal and others are integrally incorporated into a housing 24. A branching film for branching an optical signal and detecting it and a photodiode are arranged inside of the housing 24. The device 40 has switches 41-44 for setting conditions of a test and measurement, an A/D converter for converting a detection signal provided from the detector 20 into a digital signal, LEDs 45-48 for indicating the presence or absence of the optical signal or its propagation direction, and a indicator 49 for displaying a signal level in digital form.
