PURPOSE: A color image display device is provided to achieve improved uniformity of luminance all over the screen in the image display device having a flat cathode ray tube with a high wedge ratio. CONSTITUTION: A color image display device comprises a cathode ray tube including a panel having an inner surface on which a screen is formed; a funnel coupled to the panel; an electron gun coupled to the neck portion of the funnel, and which emits electron beams to the screen; a deflection unit for deflecting electron beams emitted from the electron gun; and a shadow mask spaced apart from the screen. The electron gun includes a triode unit constituted by a cathode(3) for generating electron beams; a grid electrode(4) arranged in the vicinity of the cathode; and an accelerating electrode(5) arranged in the vicinity of the grid electrode. The accelerating electrode and the grid electrode are applied with a variable voltage.
