PURPOSE: A device and a method for synchronizing plural processors on a processor array are provided to synchronize the data communication between the processors of the processor array by using an asynchronous variable memory accessed by each processor of the processor array. CONSTITUTION: A distributed router architecture(200) offers scalability and high performance by using the independent RNs(Routing Node)(210,220,240) connected by a fast switch fabric(250). Respective RNs comprise IOP(Input/Output Processor unit) and more than one PMD(Physical Medium Device). Respective IOPs(216,226,236,246) buffer an IP(Internet Protocol) packet from a sub network such a router(290) and a network(295) or a rearing router, classify the requested services, search a destination address from a packet header, and forward the packet to an outbound IOP. The respective IOPs keep the inbound routing table decided from the routing protocol packets, calculate a minimum data path from the routing table, and process the packet from one PMD module.
