PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance heating element having a relatively high specific resistance value while maintaining required strength as the resistance heating element to enhance the generating efficiency of far infrared rays. SOLUTION: A composition comprising silicone rubber and boron nitride is shaped in required shape, then fired at a temperature raised to 700°C in an oxidizing atmosphere and further fired at a temperature raised to 1100°C in a nitrogen atmosphere to form a porous body of silicon oxide skeleton. Phenol resin dissolved in alcohol is filled in pores of the obtained porous body under pressure, and the phenol resin is carbonized at a temperature raised to 1100°C in a nitrogen atmosphere.
