BATCH COMPOSITION FOR MAKING UV- AND HEAT RAY-ABSORBING GLASS AND GLASS USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A batch composition for making an UV- and heat ray-absorbing glass is provided to prevent the deterioration of the optical properties of the glass and to improve the UV and heat ray absorption of the glass. CONSTITUTION: The batch composition for an UV- and heat ray-absorbing glass is characterized by comprising 0.4-1.4 wt% of a copper slag. In particular, the batch composition comprises 55-61 wt% of a quartz sand, 17-20 wt% of a soda ash, 12-14.5 wt% of a dolomite, 5.0-7.0 wt% of a limestone, 0.1-2.0 wt% of a feldspar, 0-5 wt% of a casmite, 0.3-0.8 wt% of sodium sulfate decahydrate, 0-1.0 wt% of titanium oxide or cerium oxide, 0-20 ppm of cobalt oxide and 0.4-1.4 wt% of a copper slag. The UV- and heat ray-absorbing glass obtained from the batch composition has the visible light transmission of 70-100%, the heat ray transmission of 0-51% and the UV transmission of 0-25%.
