PURPOSE: An electron gun is provided to achieve improved resolution of the image formed by excitation of the phosphor screen. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun(50) comprises three cathodes(51) arranged in a line; a plurality of electrodes(52,53,54,55,56) spaced apart from the cathodes, and which form an auxiliary lens and a main lens and have electron beam passing holes formed at the portions corresponding to the cathodes; and a shield cup(70) coupled to the electrode(56), and which has a beam passing hole for forming a quadrupole lens by the potential difference of the electrode constituting the main lens.
