PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent smoking and burnout of resin materials such as a base, a socket or the like caused by an abnormal discharge occurring at end of life of a lamp. SOLUTION: With the fluorescent lamp having a stem 12 with pair of lead wires 11 penetrated airtightly at a sealing end part of a luminous tube and with a filament 13 held at an end part of the pair of the lead wires 11 arranged at the inside of the luminous tube, a thin glass part 16 is formed with a thick glass forming the steam 12 thinned partly. A thickness of the thin glass part 16 is preferably not less than 0.2 mm and not more than 0.5 mm. Further, the thin glass part 16 is to be formed at a position easy to receive heat from the filament, preferably within 15 mm from the filament. An area of the thin glass part 16 is preferred to be not less than 3 mm<SP>2</SP>and not more than 5 mm<SP>2</SP>. Further, the thin glass part can be formed in the plural number.
