PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording tape cassette which can adequately support a recording tape up to a tape guide to which the tape delivered from a reel is first guided. SOLUTION: The recording tape cassette 10 is formed by rotatably housing the reel 20 provided with a hub 26 wound with the recording tape T and the flange 24 attached to the end of the hub 26 and formed with recessed parts 24A on its inside surface into a case 12. The recording tape cassette is so formed that the route distanceαof the recording tape T from outward inner peripheral edges 24B of the recessed parts 24A to an outer peripheral edge 24C of the flange 24 is made longer than the route distanceβof the recording tape T from the edge 24C of the flange 24 up to the tape guide 34 to initially guide the recording tape T delivered from the reel 20.
