PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the error of a reproduced signal by solving the problem of the distortion of a reproduced waveform caused by residual magnetization during reproduction regarding a magnetic disk drive in which the reliability of the reproduced signal is improved. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk drive incorporating a magnetic disk 61A equipped with a magnetic recording film for recording information, and a composite thin-film magnetic head 111 having a magnetic pole and a coil for recording/reproducing information on the magnetic disk 61A is provided with a power feeding circuit 151 in which a series of information is recorded on the magnetic disk 61A by the thin-film magnetic head 111, and then supplying the current of a polarity opposite to that of a recording current corresponding to the last information to a demagnetizing coil 119 disposed around a flux guide 117 to set the magnetized state of the tip of the flux guide 117 to a predetermined stable state.
