PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which can deter an improper current from flowing to a substrate and is reducible in manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The image reader is mounted with a case 1 and a photodetecting element 4 for image read which is positioned in the case 1 and equipped with the substrate 2 incorporated in the case 1, the substrate 1 being incorporated in the case 1 by deforming projections 10 formed integrally with the case 1 so that the substrate 2 is pressed against the case 1.
