PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and thin piezoelectric resonator having a high air-tightness and available at a low cost, in which a piezoelectric resonator element is provided in a housing having a structure which permits adjustment of a frequency after sealing the housing. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric resonator incorporates the piezoelectric resonator element 31 in the housing 41. The piezoelectric resonator is the surface- mount piezoelectric resonator, in which the piezoelectric resonator element is provided in the housing, having a structure which permits frequency adjustment through an opening provided in a base 1 or a lid 3 forming the housing.
