PURPOSE: An electric parking brake is provided to improve safety in parking through electric and mechanical operation, to efficiently use the inner space of the vehicle, and to semi-permanently use the electric parking brake, by using an electric switch. CONSTITUTION: Side drum gears are attached to the inside of rear wheel brake drums and electricity of a battery(8) is on standby in a control unit(2) and an operating switch(1). The control unit is connected with a solenoid(3). If the operating switch is operated, electricity is supplied to the solenoid. An electromagnet of the solenoid forms same electrodes and a pusher of the solenoid pushes fixed rods toward the sides and the fixed rods contact with the drum gear. If the operating switch is released, the electricity of the solenoid is intercepted. If the fixed rod is restored to the original position by the resorting force of return springs, the drum gear and the fixed rod are separated from each other, and the contact and release of the drum gear and the fixed rod are repeatedly performed.
