PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a conventional technique whereby a user cannot enjoy a video contents distribution service for recording video contents distributed on e.g. a recording disk medium via the Internet and allowing the user to freely view the recorded video contents.

SOLUTION: The video contents distribution recording system to encrypt video contents distributed via the Internet 101 by utilizing a password entered by the user and to record the encrypted video contents to a DVD-RAM medium 130, is provided with: a video contents distribution server 110; and a broadcast band STB 120.
