<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of transmitting a document to an addressed point over a communication network without using computers. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic document transmitting-receiving system has an electronic document transceiver and an authentication server interconnected via a public communication network. The document transceiver has a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter reads or writes an IC card using an IC card reader-writer, reads a document to generate image data using a scanner, and conducts electronic signature.
