PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shield a TFT channel region against undesirable light. SOLUTION: A radiation detector (18) includes a top-gate thin-film transistor (TFT) (28) including a source electrode (50), a drain electrode (52) and a gate electrode (62) and a diode (70) which is electrically coupled to the source electrode (50). In an another mode, an imaging system including a radiation source and a radiation detector which is positioned for receiving radiation from the radiation source is provided. The radiation detector includes a top-gate thin-film transistor (TFT) including a source electrode, a drain electrode and a gate electrode and a diode which is electrically coupled to the source electrode of the top-gate thin-film transistor.
