PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver, an optical reception method and the like.

SOLUTION: The optical receiver 101 receives an optical signal 102 at a pre-amplifier 103. The optical signal is sent to a polarization controller 104 and then injected into a semiconductor laser 105. An outgoing light generated by injection synchronization with the injected light is sent to an optical detector 106. The detector 106 converts the optical signal to an electrical signal, which is turn is parallelly branched into two electrical signals at a branch 107. The two signals are sent to upper- and lower-side threshold circuits 108 and 109, respectively. The upper-side threshold circuit 108 outputs an electrical signal indicative of whether or not the intensity of the input electrical signal is larger than a predetermined upper-side threshold value. The lower-side threshold circuit 109 outputs an electrical signal indicative of whether or not the intensity of the input electrical signal is lower than a predetermined lower-side threshold value. A logical 'OR' circuit 110 performs a logical 'OR' operation on the signals to restore the transmission signal, and outputs the transmission signal.
