PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk player and its firmware updating method capable of rewriting entire firmware being a program for controlling a control unit to perform the control of each operation. SOLUTION: The disk player is provided with a disk discriminating means for discriminating whether the mounted disk is a disk for data reproduction or a disk for updating the firmware, a firmware updating means for reading out the updating firmware, when discriminated as the disk for updating the firmware, to update to this firmware for updating, and a disk ejecting means for ejecting the disk, then the firmware recorded on the mounted disk for updating the firmware is read out, and the firmware recorded in a writable/readable memory is updated by this firmware, and after that, the disk for updating the firmware is ejected.
