<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data packet cell sequence forwarding method which is capable of being applied for packet multicast to multiple destination routers. <P>SOLUTION: This method includes a step of associating a destination forwarding tag to a data packet, a step of creating a sequence of fixed length cells for further transmission to at least one cell switching node, a step of dynamically analyzing the destination forwarding tag for elaborating a packet cell forwarding decision applicable to all cells of the sequence, and performing a subsequent transfer operation of the all cells, to at least one outgoing link. Each edge packet router is assigned with a distinct local edge router identity which is specific to the sub-network, and the destination forwarding tag includes at least one local identifier of destination egress edge packet router, which is related to the local edge packet router identity of the destination egress edge packet routers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
