PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an interpolated image satisfactory regardless of interpolation of defective pixels. SOLUTION: A photo diode 2 is divided into two areas 2A and 2B by a channel stop 3. When one of areas 2A and 2B is a defective area, interpolation is performed by using image data obtained on the basis of signal electric charge stored in the other area. Since pixel interpolation is performed on the basis of signal electric charge stored in an area nearest to a defective area, an obtained image is made satisfactory regardless of the defective area on a boundary part of the image.
