APPARATUS HAVING OPTICAL SIGNAL DETECTING FUNCTION AND VARIABLE ATTENUATION FUNCTION AND WDM MODULE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An apparatus having an optical signal detecting function and a variable attenuation function and a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) module using the same are provided to reduce the size by forming a multiplexer and a monitoring unit in a layered structure. CONSTITUTION: Tap coupler modules(34) are coupled to a plurality of variable attenuators(30) to divide optical signals into one for information transmission and another for a monitoring. The optical signals for the monitoring are inputted to photo diodes of a monitoring unit(38). The monitoring unit(38) detects the optical signals divided by the tap coupler modules(34) and provides a control signal based on the detected signals to the plurality of variable attenuators(30). The tap coupler modules(34) include fiber blocks. The fiber blocks are coupled to the tap coupler modules(34).
