PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an additional function program downloaded into a device from being copied fraudulently and used fraudulently with other device. SOLUTION: A function-in-device usage limiting method has: a procedural step 1 which issues a permission-for-use number by which propriety can be judged in the device; a procedural step 2 which embeds the permission-for-use number in the downloaded additional function program and stores them in the device; a procedural step 3 which judges the propriety of the permission- for-use number; and a procedural step 4 which inhibits the execution of the additional function program, if the permission-for-use number is judged to be fraudulent when the downloaded additional function program is about to be executed.
