PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food heating and cooling unit without requiring enlargement of a size of an electric power source, nor electric power control when food is heated. SOLUTION: This food heating and cooling unit is provided with a charge part 2 for obtaining electric power suitable for charge from a commercial alternating current power source 1, a capacitor part 3 for condensing the electric power obtained in the charge part 2, and a heating and cooling part 4 for heating or cooling the food by the electric power of the capacitor part 3. The high electric power is thereby provided from the capacitor part 3, and the food is heated or cooled in a short time. Even when the heating and the cooling for the food are carried out concurrently, one for them is supplied from the capacitor part 3, the other is supplied from the commercial alternating current power source 1, the separate power sources are used respectively therein, the electric power source is not brought into over-capacity thereby, and operations for heating and cooling the food are carried out at the same time without conducting complicated control.
