PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which shortens a charging time of a light emitting means of a stroboscope and the like without damaging its convenience property. SOLUTION: An imaging system including an optical unit 22, a CCD 24, an analog signal processing portion 26, a digital signal processing portion 30 and the like is intermittently operated while a charging operation is done by a charging portion 60 to charge an electric power for light-emitting the stroboscope 62 by a CPU 50. Even for a term while an operation of the imaging system is stopped, a photographed object image shown by an image signal obtained by the imaging system just prior to the term is displayed on a liquid crystal display 44.
